Encubate-Canada-Express-Entry-(Mid-Year-Report)

Launched in January 2015, Express Entry is a new application management system for certain economic immigration programs including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class and a portion of the Provincial Nominee program.

Based on the Express Entry Mid-Year Report for 2015 that was announced by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), as of July 6, 2015, the following numbers were achieved:

  • 112,701 foreign nationals had submitted an Express Entry profile;
  • 48,723 were found not eligible because they did not meet the criteria set by the system;
  • 4,302 were pending due to Job Bank registration or verification of their Provincial Nomination;
  • 6,441 withdrew their profile;
  • 41,218 were eligible to be invited to apply;
  • 12,017 were invited to apply for permanent resident status.

According to the CIC report, in the early weeks of Express Entry, Canada was the dominant country of residence for invited candidates because of the number of foreign workers with LMIA backed job offers that wish to settle in Canada permanently.

The top five countries of citizenship for candidates who were invited are India, Philippines, United Kingdom, Ireland, and China. CIC has reported that Express Entry is still in early stages of implementation and it is anticipated that the top ten countries will continue to shift as more candidates are invited to apply.

CIC received 7,528 applications for permanent residence from candidates who were invited to apply for permanent residence during the invitation rounds. The majority of the applications are still in progress but 655 were approved resulting in 844 visas issued to principal applicants and their dependants; and, 411 admissions in Canada.
